The new police Service for Foreign Tourists or SATE (Servicio de Atención al Turista Extranjero) has been announced as a solution for foreigners who fall victim to crime during their stay in Marbella.

The office, manned by Local and National Police officers, will enable victims to report crime and minor offences in their own language. The service will also offer advice on paperwork and other procedures, such as cancelling credit cards, contacting consulates or locating relatives.

It is expected that the office will open before the summer, following the signing of an agreement between town hall and central government. The matter was discussed at last Monday’s meeting of the Local Security Council presided over by Mayor of Marbella Ángeles Muñoz and attended by the government delegate in Malaga, Jorge Hernández Mollar.
